Atlas is a titan who rebelled against the gods of the Olympus. His punishment for this rebellion: to carry the sky on his shoulders for eternity. To signify the endless character of his punishment I have painted him kneeling at the edge of the world surrounded by eternal darkness, while he carries his burden.
