I love to paint human anatomy and I am a color addict
In my studio I use classical oil painting techniques to create contemporary oil paintings. My painting style is realism and a lot of my paintings are nudes. I use models and set them against a variation of backgrounds, sometimes abstract. The abstract backgrounds enable me to indulge in my love of pure color. The figurative backgrounds show my love of water, seascapes and flowers. Part of my paintings are inspired by classical mythology, but I tend to give it my own spin: a women’s point of view.
I am a self-taught painter. After completing a PhD (biochemistry) I worked in management. During a sabbatical I took sculpture lessons and started drawing again (my favorite childhood occupation). And that changed everything. Through drawing, painting and sculpting from life models, I developed my skills and my knowledge of human anatomy. After trying several media, I chose oil paints for their beautiful colors.
